Director Business Development at Mastercard Austria

Christian Schicker is Director of Business Development for Mastercard in Austria. As a global company, Mastercard believes it has a responsibility to take care of the planet – from managing its own footprint when it comes to climate, waste and water to using its solutions and technologies to contribute to a sustainable future.

With projects like restoring 100 million trees as commitment of the Priceless Planet Coalition or reducing first-use plastic in cards by developing a sustainable card program, Mastercard takes action that nurtures a sustainable future globally by placing a priority on climate change and becoming the first payments company to set a science-based target, which ensures that its actions help the world meet the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement. The technology company also encourages its cardholders to give safely and securely, so their actions contribute to a positive impact on the planet.

 

While driving innovative payment solutions and building card acceptance with merchants in Austria, Christian Schicker is now also leading Mastercard’s Sustainable Mobility Program across Central Eastern Europe, that strives for sustainable, secure and user-friendly mobility and creates consumer-friendly payment systems at electric car charging stations.

 

Before joining Mastercard in 2008, Mr. Schicker has  been holding several senior positions within a large Austrian communication agency. He holds a master degree in Commercial Science from the University of Economics and Business (WU), Vienna.
